2014 Fall Shiai
Held on Sunday, November 16, 2014, our annual Fall Shiai was a great success. We took a moment to recognize and honor those veterans who were present either as participants or spectators. The theme for this Shiai was kumite and all students participated respectfully and safely. At the end of the event, numerous students were promoted to their next eligible rank, including three who were promoted to Jr. Black Belt. Congratulations to all! Happy & safe holidays to all in the upcoming holiday season. |
2011 Fall Shiai
On Sunday, November 6, 2011, we held our annual Shinjitsu Dō Fall Shiai at the Benedict A. Cucinella Elementary School in Long Valley, NJ. The shiai capped a testing weekend in which students were thoroughly tested for their next respective rank, including some for black belt. The event came to a close with a number of black belt promotions. The following individuals were promoted to the rank of Shodan (1st degree black belt) after successfully completing their testing, which began Saturday morning: Jonathan Fischer, Christopher D. Conicelli, Jesse Doris, Jason Fischer, Deanna Marie Fischer, & Christopher P. Fischer. In addition, the following Shodans were promoted to the rank of Nidan (2nd degree black belt): Matthew J. Louie, Gregory T. Adams Jr., Charles A. Thompson, Cheryl A. Carbini, Philip Marchello III, & Kale London Ziadie. Finally, the following Nidans were promoted to the rank of Sandan (3rd degree black belt): Paul A. Peters, Michael R. Egleston, & Carol A. Conicelli. Congratulations to all who were promoted! |
2011 Spring Shiai
On Sunday, May 22, 2011, we held our annual Shinjitsu Dō Spring Shiai at the Belvidere High School in Belvidere, NJ. Students competed in a bunkai (application) competition, which was a first for our association. The competition was a success and a great learning experience for competitors and judges alike. The shiai itself capped a testing weekend in which students were thoroughly tested for their next respective rank, including some for black belt. The event came to a close with a handful of black belt promotions. The following individuals were promoted to the rank of Shodan (1st degree black belt) after successfully completing their testing, which began Saturday morning: Victor V. Vuskalns Stephanie M. Egleston Additionally, the following Shodans were promoted to the rank of Nidan (2nd degree black belt): James P. Ashe, Laura Cheatham, Erin June Guida, Patrick L. Petersen, & Kristen Wren Wade. 9th Annual Shinjitsu Dō Banquet
On Saturday, March 5, 2011, we held out 9th Annual Shinjitsu Dō Banquet. The banquet was a success with numerous attendees being recognized for their achievements and excellence throughout the year. Additionally, two individuals were recognized by the Shinjitsu Dō board as having earned formal titles (or shōgō in Japanese) in Isshin-ryū Karate. Sensei Thomas Kately (Rokudan, 6th degree black belt) was presented with his Renshi diploma (or gaku in Japanese), while Shihan Richard Repsher (Hachidan, 8th degree black belt) was presented with his Kyōshi diploma.
